I happened to come across this journal from a meme, and your portrayal certainly seems to be interesting and well-developed, though I'm afraid I haven't seen the adaptation of Bess's life in question, so I don't have much to offer there. I've just noticed the slight quirk you have of commonly miswriting "have" as "of" in certain contexts when they're homophonic - "should have", "would have", "might have".
